Update

Hi family! Gosh, sorry I haven't written on this blog in forever. I do enjoy reading it though! I guess I just don't know what to update you all on... Life is busy but good. I am feeling overly responsible for things at work, but then I sometimes wonder if it is all just in my head! Mom and Dad are both home with bad colds. I stayed with them this weekend and helped take care of them by making lunches and dinner and doing dishes and accompanying Mom to the grocery store. It was kind of exhausting to be the "parent," but I always love going home. I made Mom watch two episodes of "Glee" and I think she liked it! I love that show, which never ceases to surprise me because I don't really like comedy shows (or movies), but I do love music and singing! Mom is super excited for the upcoming reunion! can't believe it is in less than a month. I know all the aunts and Nana are going to have so much fun! I'm looking forward to having Kathy visit for the first time and glad she'll finally meet Dad. I will be there for some of the long weekend. I don't have that Monday off work and I would take it off, but I am already missing work the following Friday for another event. Plus, on the Friday of your weekend I have the day off, but I'm not sure if I'll be home yet because I have been invited to a Winter Olympics kick off party. Normally I don't mind missing social events where I may not know many people, but my good friend is hosting it and I would love to be there for her! Anyway, all this to say, I'll be around that weekend on Saturday and Sunday. Hope each of you are doing well. I am still just so amazed at the 2009 we had. :)

Rain, Tornados, and Softball...Oh my!

Hello Dear Family!

It has been raining tons here for the past two days. I had a near death, well maybe not death, but definitely a scary experience driving back to LA yesterday. It was crazy, but I thought I handled it well. Nothing really set in until it was over and then I started crying and shaking and I called Chris immediately to tell him what happened. I though of you all who deal with snow during the winter and I can not even imagine what it would be like to have ice. It made me think of Natalie's story where she totalled her car from ice and had to crawl out the back window. So scary!

There was a tornado warning issued. It's been hilarious to read about all of my friend's status' on facebook. There is no way we are going to experience a tornado, but it's funny to think people believe it. I'm sure all of you in Texas are laughing at this right about now. However, if it should occur I will be grabbing my roommates and jumping into our peeling, tiny bathtub with our mattresses :).

This weekend I am coaching a fraternity softball team in a softball tournament. I am really looking forward to this, even though I do not know much about softball. That's the game with the bat right...just kidding. But seriously, it should be interesting. We have adorable sorority shirts, so at least we will look good from the sidelines. This is my first philanthropy event!

The Next Reunion

Well, as I sit here writing, I gaze out the window to a cold, overcast, cloudy day. Winter is not my favorite season. I can't believe it is almost the middle of January. Where does the time go? I am looking forward to hanging with everyone at our next upcoming reunion at Jan's place. I am still in awe of the first reunion. What fun! I heading back to school tomorrow! I owe, I owe, it's off to work I go. Have a great week beloved family!

Happy New Year, too

Hi, family - happy new year to all! We went to dinner with two other couples and then went back to one of the houses and played "Apples to Apples," which got more fun as we sipped cordials and port. We are all so old that we quit at 11:30 and Dan and I were driving home when it turned midnight. There were literally no cars on the road - guess everyone else was partying still. Then, we saw fireworks, but not sure where they were from. It looked like on the beach or at Camp Pendelton (our Marine base here in town). At midnight, Dan leaned over to kiss me in the car (I had the least amt. to drink, so was driving) and that was cute. We got home and the dog was trembling from the popping of the fireworks, so we were glad to get home. Carrie and I just got home from the movies, Dan watched football, and Ash and Chris were out and about. Thinking of you all and wishing it was February already!!!

Happy New Year to y'all! Many thanks to Carrie for making it possible to post here now instead of guiltily lurking. What a neat blog! I'm new at this so bear with me. Hope all of you had a great Christmas and are looking forward to the new year. Looking back, it seems like only yesterday that we were welcoming in 2000. Steve found the old movie "The Odessey of 2001" made in 1986. Phew! That should be interesting to watch during this vacation. Joe headed up into the foothills for the weekend to his friend's family's cabin (2nd home). I'm sure they are in snow there. Steph took off to Modesto to hang with her boyfriend, Bill. Our lives are not that interesting so I'm not sure what to write in this blog. Congratulations Whitney! I am looking forward to being a great aunt again. Megan, good luck finishing your graduate degree. It looks like we will be heading out to camp in Death Valley this week. It may be cold at night. What an adventure! We haven't been there in years!
